There is one winter jacket that you need in your wardrobe and that’s this suede coat.  As you guys know, I’m no stranger to picking up an item or two in the kids section of Target (you can get some really cute and inexpensive buys there) and this piece is just that!  It’s an XL kids and under $20 right now.

If you are petite like me, it fits really well and the inside is lined with faux fur so it’s actually pretty warm.  If XL kids is not your thing, I’ve rounded up a whole bunch of adult-sized suede jackets for a similar price (this one is also $20)!

A suede jacket is warm enough to wear out, but it looks more fashionable than a basic winter coat which is why I love it.  It can be really hard to look cute when it’s cold because your outfit is always covered up under a big puffy jacket.  This is the perfect in-between.

What’s your favorite coat to wear in the winter?

Confession: I’ve really never met a pair of ripped jeans that I didn’t like.  Frayed denim is fun and eye-catching, and with the right pairings, can take any blah outfit from ordinary to exciting.  That’s why I’ve rounded up a few of the best style tips for wearing distressed denim.  There are no set in stone rules ever when it comes to fashion, but this is how I personally like to wear them and I hope that it gives you some ideas.  Get ready to get the most out of your not-so-basic jeans!

Tip #1: Add some contrast.

Soften the ruggedness with some feminine pieces.  In this particular look I chose to wear my pointed heels to give it that girly touch.

Tip #2: Wear a non-flowy top.

Distressed denim tends to have a slouchy look so I usually like to wear a tight top with it.  I find this makes the look appear more put together.  This one I’m wearing is actually just an inexpensive thermal from Old Navy.  They are SO cheap, look great with everything and are really warm in the winter.

Tip #3: Layer on more textures.

In this case I chose to add my faux shearling vest.  Layering different types of fabric to an already textured look gives it that instant glam factor (and is perfect for the fall and winter months).

Tip #4: Accessorize.

For even more glam add some sparkly accessories.  In this look my accessories were very minimal with simple rhinestone studs and a crossbody bag, but adding a statement necklace or some other bold pieces would really take it to the next level!

Tip #5: Don’t forget a bright lipstick!

I love to further accessorize with makeup.  Wearing a fun lipstick can add color where you are lacking (such as in this look where everything was very muted).  It’s often understandable that you don’t want to go color crazy with already crazy looking jeans (although sometimes I do).  A lipstick is a great way to add color without going overboard.

I’ve linked a whole bunch of really inexpensive distressed boyfriend jeans similar to the ones I’m wearing below like this one and this one so grab a pair for yourself!

Okay, so I spoke waaaay too soon with the whole “it’s been a mild winter thing.”  Last weekend we were hit with the Jonas blizzard and as you can see by the huge piles of snow it was pretty intense!  I was basically trapped inside all last weekend, but it was so incredibly relaxing doing nothing for three days straight. Although it’s super cold, I’m obsessed with the way that the camel and brown in my outfit pop against the white snow and my white pants.  There’s something really striking about neutral colors against a blank canvas.  I hope you guys have a happy Friday and a great weekend!

I have to admit that black on blue is a combination I never thought I would grow to love, but this past year I realized what a power couple they truly are!  I think in particular, a royal blue like this one is so striking against the black.  I added a hot pink bag to bring some more color into the look and then finished it off with MAC’s “Chatterbox” on my lips.

Coat: eShakti // Top: Old Navy // Pants: Target (similar) // Shoes: ALDO // Bag: ALDO (alternative) // Sunglasses: Target // Lipstick: MAC Chatterbox

Hi loves!  This week was absolutely FREEZING.  My sister and I weren’t sure if we’d be able to bare it outside long enough to get these shots, but we made it!  Despite having to suck it up a little, the weather was perfect timing because a company that I was already relatively familiar with, eShakti, offered to send me a coat customized to my measurements.  I had become aware of this company through Instagram and had heard positive things from other girls who shopped from the site.  That being so, I was really curious to try the brand out for myself and give you all an honest review of what I thought.

First, I think the idea of being able to customize something to your body is really revolutionary.  Fit is everything.  When something doesn’t sit on your body right, it just looks wrong.  I was pretty impressed with the quality of the coat.  It was well made, and looked exactly like it was pictured.  I had one minor issues with the button holes being a little stiff at first, but they loosened up after buttoning them and unbuttoning a few times.  As someone who is fairly petite, I thought the length was perfect and it was tailored really well to fit my body.  Also, I’m obsessed with the scallop detailing near the button holes.  I really love the wide variety of vintage inspired pieces that are available online too.  Some of my favorites are here, here, and here.  I think the prices are also very fair, being that each piece is customized to your individual body.  I will definitely be ordering more cute vintage looking clothes in the near future!

P.s. use code “theinspirationcloset” to get 10% OFF your purchase from 1/22/16 through 2/22/16! *Note: not valid on clearance*

Stay warm everyone and thanks for reading!
