If I had to choose a favorite holiday solely based on colors, Valentine’s Day would definitely come out on top.  It doesn’t get any better than pink, pink, and more pink.  I took it up a notch for this look and added a sparkly sequin dress, which I think just screams romantic and flirty when paired with a fitted blazer.  Also, how beautiful are these roses that Craig picked up for me?  I was on the phone with him and mentioned that I should’ve gone out to get some flowers to go with the shoot.  Next thing I know he’s at my door with a bouquet of pink roses right before I left to take pictures.  What a guy right?

I’d love to see some of your Valentine’s Day looks!  Tag me on Instagram (@theinspirationcloset) so we can be insta-friends!

Okay, okay, I know I’m a little early, but I seriously love Valentine’s Day!  First of all, pink and red EVERYTHING – need I say more?  Although the holiday is still a month away, the stores have (of course) already started stocking up on festive items, and I had to share some of my favorites.  The best part is that almost everything is under $25!

Hi everyone!  The last Valentine’s Day gift guide was a big hit so I wanted to do one more for you guys just in case you needed to give your significant other some last minute gift ideas (or if you just want to go shopping).  I’ve had my eye on some of these items for months!  Those pale pink Hunter Rain Boots are amazing.  Pink Sugar is a throwback perfume scent for me.  I used to use it all the time and I would love to repurchase it and bring it back into my life.  Dana’s Bakery makes some amazing macarons just FYI.  They sell them at local coffee shops in my area and I try new ones all the time.  Those ILY earrings are $2.99 and they come in two other colors!  HN Illustrations have been on my wish list for so long.  This girl has some major talent.  They would look so cute in my room at home (I stay in a dorm at school).  Also, Kate Spade is having a HUGE 75% off sale on their site until tomorrow at midnight!  So I included some of my Kate Spade favorites on here.

game controllers 4

game controller 1

Want to totally win the gift giving game this year?  This Valentine’s Day, you can make these chocolate game controllers, (yes you heard correctly CHOCOLATE game controllers), for only a few dollars!  I made these for my boyfriend Craig, and I know he’s going to love them.  It’s chocolate and gaming, what’s not to love right?  You can even make these beyond Valentine’s Day just as a special surprise for someone special.

You will need:

  • 1 Game Controller Chocolate Mold (Purchase Here)
  • 1 Package (12oz) of Wilton White Candy Melts
  • 1 Individual Package of Tropical Skittles
  • 1 Individual Package of Sprees
  • 1 Package of Treat Bags ($1 at Target)
  • 1 Ceramic Bowl

Put a very small handful of candy melts aside before you begin.  You will need them later.  In a ceramic bowl, heat a little less than 1/3 of your candy melts package in the microwave for 1 minute on 50% power.  When the candy is completely liquified, quickly begin pouring it into your mold (use a spoon to help it along if you need too.)  When the mold is full tap it on a hard surface several times to let any air bubbles escape.  Let the mold with the chocolate in it in the freezer for 15 minutes to make sure it has cooled.

After 15 minutes, take it out and gently turn the mold over with your hand on the chocolate.  Tap it very gently and it should just fall right out.  Repeat this process until you are out of chocolate.  Feel free to reheat leftover chocolate that has stuck to the bowl each time because it will just liquify with the rest.

After you have finished doing this, you should have around 3 game controllers or so.  Take the candy melts you put aside and melt them for 30 seconds at 50% power.  You are now going to arrange two sprees and 8 skittles on each controller.  As you can probably tell, there is an outline for where each piece of candy should go.  Use the chocolate as glue.  Put it on the bottom of each candy and stick it on.  You will be surprised how well it stays after it has dried.  Finally, insert your game controllers in each treat bag and tape them closed.

Give them to someone special! (:

Hi everyone!  With Valentine’s Day coming up soon, I figured it was the perfect time for a gift guide.  I don’t know about you, but when my boyfriend Craig asks me what I want for holidays and special occasions, I can never think of anything!  This guide is a great way to get some ideas. For anyone looking for a new scent, I highly recommend the Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume.  It’s one of my favorites.  Also, how cute are those pillow covers?  Craig got me a pillow with our names on it last year for Valentine’s and I keep it on my bed all the time.  It’s something really special and different.

Thank you so much for visiting the blog! (:
