The 4th of July is in just a few days and I wanted to give you guys a few outfit ideas for the occasion. All of these outfits were created using the same crop top. What is even more amazing is that this top was purchased at H&M for only $4.00 for their 4th of July sale!
For the first outfit I used my H&M crop top and put some Forever 21 overalls over it to create a playful and comfortable look.
Crop Top: H&M
Overalls: Forever 21
The second outfit was actually my favorite. I will most likely be wearing this outfit for 4th of July this year to a party I’m going too. (: I used the same crop top from H&M paired with a skirt I found at a store called Who. A. U. For those of you who don’t have this store in your area, Who. A. U. is a store with a California kind of vibe. They have clothes similar to a Hollister or Abercrombie, but with better sales. I purchased my sunglasses at Forever 21. You will probably see me wearing these all the time I love them. They have tiny black polka dots on them.
Crop Top: H&M
Skirt: Who. A. U.
Sunglasses: Forever 21
My last outfit is definitely the most festive being that it is the only outfit I incorporated red into. Sorry guys I don’t own a ton of red! :0 These red shorts are from the store Wet Seal. I wouldn’t say I’m a frequent shopper at Wet Seal, because sometimes the quality is iffy, but these shorts were an amazing buy. They are made out of this stretchy fabric instead of jeans, so they’re super comfy to wear. My top is the same H&M crop top of course, and the kimono is from Hollister Co. I hadn’t bought something from Hollister in about a year prior to this. I walked in because I saw they were having a sale and found this beautiful kimono for $10.00! You really can’t beat it.
Crop Top: H&M
Shorts: Wet Seal
Kimono: Hollister Co.
The 4th of July is approaching soon and I wanted to make something cute and festive for the occasion. These cupcakes were perfect because they look like they took some time, but they were actually really simple to make. I find that when I don’t have a ton of spare time, but really want to bake something nice, the box mixes work perfect for me (we’re keeping it real here haha). Obviously, anyone trying this could make the batter from scratch if they would like. For this recipe I used:
✳ Betty Crocker’s Super Moist White Cake Mix
✳ Pillsbury’s Funfetti Vanilla Frosting
✳ Red, White, and Blue Sprinkles
✳ Fourth of July themed marshmallows
I found everything in the baking aisle except for the marshmallows and the sprinkles, which I had to go to the actual bakery in my food store to find. After you have baked your cupcakes according to the box directions, let them fully cool. Now, you can either use an actual piping bag for this, or you can do what I did and cut one tip off the corner of a Ziplock bag. Put the desired icing tip into the bag and push it partially through the open tip of the bag.
With a spatula, begin spooning the frosting into you bag. When the bag has a decent amount of frosting in it, twist the open part so that it is sealed from anything dripping out. For the cleanest appearance, try to frost the cupcakes in one swirl, without taking breaks. Now, use a bowl to put a bunch of your sprinkles into by themselves. Take your newly frosted cupcakes, and turn them on their side, slowly rotating them into the sprinkles without getting any near the top. For the final touch, put a white star marshmallow (the package comes with red and blue as well), onto a toothpick and into your cupcake.
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a few pictures from a recent outfit of the day. This was just a casual daytime summer look I created with a few simple pieces. I bought the maxi skirt from Forever21and I purchased it in-store. For anyone looking for a maxi skirt, I think Forever21 has an amazing selection and they are very affordable. Mine was about $12.00! I am currently loving the style of shirt I’m wearing. I think shirts that tie in the front are amazing because the shape lets you pair them with anything (skirts, shorts, put over a dress, etc.). So stock up! You can find the one I’m wearing from Kohl’s. My flower crown was purchased from H&M and my rose ring was handed down to me from my Nana.
Maxi Skirt: Forever 21
Ring: From my Nana (:
Flower Crown: H&M
Hi there! I just wanted to do a quick review of the SENSATIONAIL color gel polish in the color, “White Lily”. I have tried quite a few of the polishes from this brand and I have to say I am very impressed. First of all, for those of you who have never tried an at home gel manicure, you are seriously missing out! The final product never disappoints me. My manicure always comes out professional looking and lasts for a week and a half to two weeks without a single chip. On top of that, because it is a gel polish and can only dry with UV light, my polish never gets tacky, so it lasts much longer. Additionally, since it is not drying half way through applying my polish, the result is a much smoother and more clean appearance. One of my favorite parts about a gel manicure is that it doesn’t leave residue on your fingers when you mess up, because it can’t dry without the light. Just wipe the polish right off! You don’t even have to wait for it to dry. As soon as the nails comes out of the lamp you are all set and can touch anything without ruining your nails. The “White Lily” polish went on beautifully and with two coats was completely opaque. It has great shine, and the color is nice and bright. Happy painting! (:
Hi everyone! This is my first blog post to my new series called, “Get Inspired to Help”. It is my hope that through this section of my blog, some of you will either become more aware of how to help in you community, or be inspired to create your own ways of giving back. When I became aware that DoSomething.org and H&M had partnered together for a cause called, “Comeback Clothes”, I knew I had to help.
Being a fashion major in college, I have been educated in some of my classes on the danger that clothes can bring to our environment. I learned that it takes an unbelievable amount of energy, and water to make textiles. Not only so, but every year, 11.1 million tons of clothing that could be recycled ends up in landfills. We need to be conserving energy and landfill space, and you guys can help!
When I came home for the summer from college, I grabbed a big box and I started sorting through my closet for clothes that were stained, ruined, bleached, etc. Any kind of clothing that can no longer be worn is perfect for this campaign! So feel free to grab that white shirt that you accidentally dyed pink in the wash and throw it in the box. Next, go through your closet a second time and look for clothing that isn’t ruined, but you would no longer like to keep for whatever reason. H&M and DoSomething will be donating clothing that is in good condition to people who need it!
Before you go and drop those clothes off, snap a picture with yourself and your clothes and post it to DoSomething.org. A person will be chosen at random to win a $10,000 dollar scholarship from submitted pictures! Now go ahead and take that box to your nearest H&M drop-off location. If you have a lot of clothes it might be a good idea to call before hand and give them a heads up! This campaign is ending on June 20th so go through those clothes A.S.A.P.! ( :
You can also text DROP to 38383 for 15% off of your next H&M purchase and it is another way to enter for the scholarship!
If any of you decide to do this campaign because you saw my post, hashtag #GetInspiredWithNicole on either Instagram or Twitter! I would love to see what you guys are up too ( :
